I remember when I left fundamentalism several years ago, I realized I had been given a "package" of beliefs all linked together. In the first few years, I found I had to examine every single belief from the package, to decide if I still believed that particular one, or if I had good reason to believe something else.

Even now, many years later, I still find one of the beliefs from that package floating into my head, and realize it's one I haven't looked at yet, and now have to examine.

Just think of how many wars and how many lives could have been saved over the past few thousand years if people pulled their head out of their own tooshies and opened their minds to the POSSIBILITY that they might not be right or that another idea has merit. They don't even have to agree, they just have to acknowledge.

I always get good Captcha words on your site. I wonder how those words are chosen.

Appropriate for April Fool's Day... so many of us are duped when we choose to accept whatever info is given us.

it's funny how often the recaptcha's seem to fit

great article.... love the way you set up this two parter - whether it was intentional or not.... and very good advice

rather too bad that most of your regulars already seem to be people that do tend toward thinking for themselves... lets hope some of the more sheeplike are lurking :)
